I will followup at some point. But I advise anyone reading this NOT to do business with Tiger Direct.
They mislead customers, they change orders and don’t notify the customers, an don’t respond to issues until you publicly talk about them.
I am over at the new host. More details to follow about the transition. Just trying to see what is broken and what isn’t broken.
PEACE
Going to be leaving the comfortable confines of Victoly Hosting sometime this month. Wanted to thank Paul and everyone else involved for the great service provided all these years!
I will post something new when I am all moved over to the new site, wherever that may be (I have some ideas).
Posted in Technology
So I took the day off and instead of sleeping in, I am griping about technology.
FourSquare – I don’t get it. I don’t think I ever will get it. You are broadcasting to the world where you are. Outside a group of real life friends, why would anyone else want to see this? I can get a Facebook like feature that would be opt-in for this (and not those fucking status updates) where you could see your friends on a map or something, but I really don’t want the world knowing what I am up to. Apparently it is just me though since they have been getting an asshole full of VC money lately.
Scrobbling On The Mac – Why is there no good modern Scrobbler client for last.fm’s service on the Mac right now? iScrobbler for the Mac was kicking ass for so long and then it just died. It was an open source client too and no one has touched it. While I know there are a number of other Scrobbler clients/iTunes controllers out there that will report your computer played music, but I want an application the will reliably track what I play on my iPod/iPhone as well. Nothing out there seems to do it that is still being actively developed. Somebody help me out here.
iPhone 4 – I was going to say something about my new iPhone and the whole reception issue debacle. Then I bought a much needed case for it and really just forgot about it. I mean you can video chat with this thing. It records HD video. Once the case went on, my bars were back. Let me say that for me though in and around NYC even though when the bars dropped when I didn’t have a case, my calls were all fine. I may have an issue with the proximity sensor though… Story developing.
Updates to this page – So I updated WordPress to 3.0 here at utterer.org. I also switched the theme to the default “Twenty Ten” theme because it is nice and simple and lets me make that cheesy header image of the picture I showed in my previous post. Of course this means I am going to have to make more posts to knock that image off the main page so people think it has been my header forever. I am also using all native WordPress Widgets for the sidebar now as opposed to copy and pasting templates. Actually the PSN game ID is still copy and pasted. I still don’t know PHP.
Wow it really has been since October when I penned my masterwork article on the merits of Rope ‘n’ Fly 2. Truth is, I am really too committed to blogging to post new articles. I have a hard time writing up a short little some shit and posting it here. I feel like every one of my posts have to be lengthy well worded pieces complete with some type of image or media to keep the public entertained. I know that no one really even reads this page except the occasional person coming in for some type of search result that will surely leave them disappointed.
Currently I am in the middle of what I would like to call my Spring 2010 west coast tour. I am in Las Vegas right now. This is for work. I had Avid recertification classes this past week that wrapped up with a test today and as of next week from Sunday until Tuesday night I will be meeting with various vendors and checking out the show floor for new products at this year’s National Association of Broadcasters show. I was out here around the same time last year for the same events, but I really didn’t get to check out the show due to the fact that we were working on a fairly large bid for work and had to meet with vendors associated with it. This time around it is a different story and I should be able to have time to look at some interesting new technologies in the broadcast field. Sure it’s no Macworld Expo, but I still like looking at new technology in a field that I work in.
On Wednesday I am hitting the road. I am making the drive from Las Vegas out to Los Angeles. I haven’t been to Los Angeles for more than a day about 2 years ago and I have been looking forward to checking out the area since I have spent a bunch of time in San Francisco on trips but never got to see the southern half of the state. Hopefully there will not be any earthquakes to be had during my stay.
Although it would just add to the fun od this trip. I really didn’t plan it out well so I am not 100% on where I am going to be staying. Basically I am out of my hotel here in Vegas on Wednesday the 14th and I have to get on a plane at LAX at roughly 8:30 in the morning on Sunday. From between those two points I am not quite sure where I am staying or what I am doing yet but I am sort of looking forward to seeing if I can get plans to come together at the last minute.
Keep in mind if you don’t see any posts from me after this for a bit, it doesn’t mean I am dead.
