The End of Mourning Trudy…

It’s been six months since I moved from Pennsylvania back out to New Jersey. Besides my friends out there (whom I still keep in contact with) and my sweet apartment that I had out in PA (although my new place is pretty sweet as well in it’s own ways), there is one thing in which I have missed dearly. That one thing is my beloved old couch, Trudy.

Trudy

Me and my trusty friend, Trudy (Summer 2007)

I remember that day in the summer of 2001 when I went to the local Salvation Army in PA to pick up a new couch for the sweet dorm room I would be moving in (the last dorm room I would be in too). There sat Trudy. For a mere 30 bucks, the couch was mine and we loaded into the Jeep and brought it up to the dorm. Keep in mind that the couch didn’t have a name at this point. The name Trudy came from the thin, trashy, old woman who worked at the cafeteria with missing front teeth who happened to have been given that name at birth. It was a fitting name for a couch that would be just as trashy. And it was the start of a long friendship.

You see, since that time Trudy has seen many things. Countless sins (COUNTLESS), countless bottlecaps, countless memories (mostly all good or excellent), countless video game sessions and much much more. The couch would have needed it’s own blog to document everything that went on with it.

But as I was getting ready to make the move out of PA, I noticed that Trudy wouldn’t be able to make the voyage. She was falling apart. There were various dents and cracks from times I beat the couch up with a lead weight, the stuffing was coming out at all ends, there were no legs on the couch (they were cut off in order to get the couch into my first apartment) and I was just afraid to even put my face on the couch as well. It was time to say goodbye. Never would I find a couch so comfortable again. And with that, she was put out on the curb to meet her proverbial maker.

Flash forward to February 2008, and now I feel that the six months of mourning the lost of my couch are over. I am officially starting my hunt now for a replacement couch. The couch won’t be a Trudy. The couch probably won’t even be named in respect for Trudy, but I need a couch because I want to pass out in front of the TV and play videogames on it again.

So let’s start from scratch

Hey,

My name is Frank. I live in NJ.

This is my cat:

Her name is Mira and currently she’s off in rehab while I finish moving into my new place. Here is a view from my place:

Since moving out here I don’t really get to go out much, but when i do, I enjoy a drink or two. Especially if this is involved:

That’s just a brief introduction to my life in pictures. I would of had more at this point, but I can’t decide whether to keep photos on Picasa, get a subscription to Flickr, or manage everything locally. Locally is way too much work for me to deal with so I think that is out. I will just keep the debate between the two other services.
